I know, I know, it’s a shocking twist—the border wall that President Trump
campaigned on, promised Mexico would pay for, and has made no actual progress on
since entering office is actually total bullshit that has no basis in reality,
according to a new study from the Government Accountability Office.

Apparently, Customs and Border Protection did not research a few minor details
when proposing costs for the wall, like what the terrain is like, what parts of
the border need to be blocked to stop migrants from crossing, and who actually
owns the land the wall would be built on. No big deal, right?

Well, according to the new report, these oversights could be a problem.

"Without assessing costs, consistent with leading practices for capital decision
making, C.B.P. does not have complete information for prioritizing locations to
use its resources in the most cost-effective manner. [The Department of Homeland
Security] faces an increased risk that the Border Wall System Program will cost
more than projected, take longer than planned or not fully perform as expected.

How could anyone see this coming.

“The report shows us what we already knew: The Trump administration put almost
zero thought into the construction of this wall other than how it will play in
the news cycle,” Rep. Filemon Vela, a Texas Democrat, told the New York Times.

At this point, the only real-world construction of the border wall, which Trump
mandated through an executive order, are prototypes built in Southern California
by some extremely shady companies. Congress has also provided some money that
will go to repairing existing fences and building some new fencing on the border
in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. Trump has threatened to shut down the government if
they don’t provide funding for the wall.

This report confirms that if Congress does indeed fund this absurd project it
will not only be an immoral exercise in xenophobia, it will also be a total
waste of whatever money is spent on it. Yeah, this is definitely going to
happen.

Upset Trump Voter Discovers Her House Falls
On Mexico's Side Of The Border Wall

This has happenned before. Rather deal with every twist and turn, fences have
cut off bights where americans resides. It takes time to open gates, even with
fire trucks waiting.

https://www.cnn.com/2017/04/04/us/eminent-domain-us-mexico-border-loop-family/ind
ex.html

Brownsville, Texas (CNN)D'Ann Loop awoke just before dawn to the smell of smoke
as flames spread through her ranch home. She and her husband, Ray, rousted their
daughter out of bed, called 911 and fled outside with little more than the
clothes they were wearing.

They could hear the wail of a fire truck's siren and thought help was on its way.
But the minutes ticked by. Soon, their house and barn were entirely engulfed in
flames. The horses got out, but other pets -- six dogs, a cat, more than
four-dozen baby chicks and a guinea pig -- were trapped inside.

"We had a little miniature goat, he was on fire and he was running out of the
structure screaming," said D'Ann, tearing up at the memory of the Jan. 11
ordeal. "We all stood in the yard and we had to listen to their cries, burning
alive."

By the time the fire engine arrived there was nothing to save. But it was hardly
the firefighters' fault: An 18-foot border fence had blocked their way.

Though the Loops' home is on US territory, it is located on the other side of
the country's border fence. The family was essentially locked out of its own
country when the fence was built a decade ago.

That's because construction of a border barrier is complicated by concerns over
the environment, geography, topography and other matters. It doesn't always
follow the true border between Mexico and the US.
